The Rotary Club of Ballston Spa donates to local school students raising funds for others in need. Founded 34 years ago, the South Glens Falls marathon dance and related activities have raised more than $2.75 million for more than 200 beneficiaries in the local area. A student committee reviews and makes decisions about requests for financial assistance. Thirty-five individuals have been selected for charitable donations from this year’s dance.
The South High Marathon Dance is on pace to break last year’s fundraising record of $326,213. It is students like this, acting out Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self, that will make all communities a better place.
Rotary District Governor Elect Melissa Ward joined Wenesday’s meeting to speak about all that Rotary has to offer and how that one Rotary project can touch the lives of a member forever.
Baduka Gombosuren, Rotary District 7190 Ambassadorial Scholar from Mongolia, is here studying Urban Planning. Rotary is new in Mongolia because it was under the Soviet Union’s sphere of influence for 70 years and it was not allowed. But now there are 8 Rotary Clubs and Baduka is grateful to be part of an International Organization so he can help his country and others.
