Foundation
The Ballston Spa Rotary Club strives to have 100%-member participation in donations to The Rotary Foundation (TRF). There is no minimum donation required. Donations can be made to TRF once a year, sporadically or on a regular basis through the club treasurer, or by automatic payment. Currently, the club matches the first $1,000 in member donations, up to $250 per member. Once a member reaches a donation total of $1,000 to TRF, they will receive a Paul Harris Recognition Award and pin.
Attendance & Service Obligations
Rotary International has a participation goal of 50% of total opportunities. We encourage our members to experience both meeting attendance & service opportunities. The Ballston Spa Rotary Club offers many opportunities to be reach that goal and be involved in Rotary.
Meeting over lunch or breakfast with great food, outstanding speakers and hometown socializing is one way participate. We also have numerous opportunities to provide community service which helps make a difference in our community.
There also may be several ways to participate in Rotary through serving on the club board/committee, district training opportunities, district leadership/committees as well as club/district social events So, whatever fits your schedule and your interest best, we have room for you.
Our service events include opportunities to share what Rotary is about (multiple times a year), fundraising through concessions at several community events, hands-on service projects (multiple times a year with many skill levels needed) and our Christmas Tree Sales.
Participation is needed to have successful events and be able to support our many financial donation requests (with reach both local and beyond). Therefore, members are encouraged to sign up.
Only one of our projects has mandatory participation. All club members are obligated to serve hours during our Christmas tree fundraiser. The number of service hours required during the season is 12 (or less depending on the number of club members/trees). Members who do not wish to participate in tree sales are obligated to pay $10 per hour not worked. (Fee subject to current employment agreement) Consideration of waiving fees is given through the board if you are physically unable to participate due to a health condition.
