This morning our club President Jere Blackwelder and club member Dan Barner made the official delivery of our food drive haul to the food pantry at Christ Episcopal Church. The food drive resulted in 313 pounds of non-perishable goods, a large donation of frozen goods by Sanders Meat Market, and over $450 in cash donations!
A big thank you goes out to all who helped with our food drive: to those who donated, to those who spread the word, and to our great collection spots O’Brien Pharmacy, Agway True Value of Ballston Spa and Curtis Lumber Company. This truly was a community effort!
The Rotary Club of Ballston Spa makes a donation to Rebuilding Together Saratoga County on behalf of DA Collins to pay it forward. Every year, DA Collins generously assists the Rotary Club of Ballston Spa by lending a generator with four powerful lights, so the Club can brighten the parking lot of Curtis Lumber for the annual Christmas tree sales Thanksgiving to Christmas. Rebuilding Together Saratoga County is a volunteer driven, registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that brings communities and volunteers together to make free repairs to the homes of low income property owners, particularly the elderly, disabled and veteran, allowing them to live in warmth, safety and independence while respecting their dignity.
The Ballston Spa Rotary Club along with Rebuilding Together Saratoga County and a grant from Sears, build a gazebo for the mens Veteran’s home on Church Ave in Ballston Spa. Interior painting was also completed. We are proud to have an opportunity to give back to those who gave so much for us.
The Rotary Club of Ballston Spa donates to local school students raising funds for others in need. Founded 34 years ago, the South Glens Falls marathon dance and related activities have raised more than $2.75 million for more than 200 beneficiaries in the local area. A student committee reviews and makes decisions about requests for financial assistance. Thirty-five individuals have been selected for charitable donations from this year’s dance.
The South High Marathon Dance is on pace to break last year’s fundraising record of $326,213. It is students like this, acting out Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self, that will make all communities a better place.
